Pam Committee To Study Raising Fees For Its ‘services’

06 November 2021 Kuwait

After officially repealing Resolution No. 520 of 2020 prohibiting the issuance of a new work permit in the country for expatriate workers who have reached 60 years and above holding high school certificates and below and their equivalent certificates, the Board of Directors of the Public Authority for Manpower decided to form a committee to review renewal fees of all permits.

Sources told Al-Qabas, “PAM is expected to raise fees for government services and transactions provided by the Authority to expatriates which may exceed 500 percent, especially since the fees that Kuwait collects from expatriates is considered the lowest among the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.”

In addition, the Manpower Board of Directors, headed by the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Abdullah Al-Salman, decided to form a committee headed by the “Fatwa and Legislation” to oversee the legal drafting of the upcoming “manpower” decisions, including raising fees expected to be issued in 2022, in order to avoid any errors that conflict with the local laws and international treaties.
