Only 400 Illegal Residents Utilized The Amnesty Period Till Date

Only 400 illegal residents had came forward to utilize the deadline given by Kuwait to rectify their residency status till date.

According to Al-Rai daily, out of about 130,000 violators, only 400 expatriates applied to the residency affairs departments to settle their status, since the beginning of the deadline on the first of December until yesterday.

Highest number of expatriates were applied in the governorates of Farwaniya, the capital and Hawalli to rectify the status.

Ministry of Interior has given an opportunity to violators of the residency law, for a period of one month, from December 1st to 31st, to amend their status or leave the country. However daily reported that the response of the violators or their sponsors so far is very weak.

Sources advised all violators to take advantage of this period. Once the deadline is over, authorities are expected to launch security campaigns in all governorates around the clock to arrest the illegal residents.
