01 January 2024 Kuwait

Kuwaiti sources have confirmed the availability of imported vegetables and onions on the local market, while vehemently denying the hoarding of vegetables and other goods in Kuwaiti ports or warehouses, according to Al-Anba daily.

Sources quoted the ministry as saying that there are multiple sources of imported vegetables and onions. Khaled Al-Subaie, Chairman of the Kuwait Society for Consumer Protection, confirmed that Turkish, Iranian, and Jordanian onions are being sold at Shubrat Al-Khadar Vegetable Market for 240 to 250 fils per kilo. According to him, there is no onion crisis in the local market; he contacted a few onion traders or importers and they assured him that Yemeni, Indian, and Egyptian onions would be available soon.
