New Work Permits Issuance From Tuesday

A new mechanism for receiving requests for new work permits will be announced starting next Tuesday, in implementation of the Cabinet’s decision to reopen the issuance of new visas and work permits.

The Council of Ministers had earlier called on the Public Manpower Authority (PAM) to coordinate with the ministries of Health and Interior to open the door for new visas and work permits, and to ensure the validity of the vaccination certificate for workers to be recruited through an electronic link with the Ministry of Health.

Al-Qabas has learned that the services for issuing new permits will be activated through the “Ashal” portal of PAM and the Ministry of Health portal for vaccination certificates, so that employers are required to submit the necessary data electronically.

According to sources, the meetings between the relevant authorities are continuing to finalize the mechanism required for the issuance of new permits, while the issuance of work permits is currently limited to the categories that have prior approvals from the competent authorities.

Moreover, PAM stated that printing the work permits shall be upon submitting the applications electronically and attached with the airline tickets reserved for the recruited labor on government contracts, in addition to the salary, working hours, the duration of the work permit, profession and educational qualification, and providing a housing allowance for government contracts employees while submitting a request for work permit to transfer from an entry visa to work permits.
