Mp Rejects Allowing Foreign Women To Retain Kuwaiti Citizenship After Death Of Husband
The Women, Child and Family Affairs Committee in the Parliament on Thursday discussed several issues concerning women; the most important of which is the housing grant for Kuwaiti women married to non-Kuwaitis.
Committee member MP Saleh Ashour said their priorities include finding ways to stop domestic violence, disclosing they will soon invite the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to a meeting in order to talk about the idea of giving priority to children of Kuwaiti women married to non-Kuwaitis in the employment process.
;In addition, MP Safaa Al-Hashim that the committee will invite Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah to a meeting to deliberate on the naturalization of foreign women married to Kuwaitis.
She rejected the idea of allowing a foreign woman married to a Kuwaiti to retain her Kuwaiti nationality after the death of her husband. She added she will not allow Kuwaiti women to suffer; especially in terms of obtaining a house, loan or job.
She said the employment advertisements stating that the vacant posts are for men only are unacceptable, warning she will grill any minister behind such advertisements. She added the committee discussed several issues related to the family, stressing the committee is keen on giving women equal opportunities with men in obtaining a job, loan and social allowances.
