Mp Asked Minister Of Finance About The Legal Settlement Which Kac Made With An Israeli
MP Muhammad Hayef has asked Minister of Finance Dr Nayef Al- Hajraf about the legal settlement which Kuwait Airways Corporation (KAC) made with an Israeli who was banned from boarding the national carrier in London, reports Al- Anba daily.
The MP pointed out Kuwait’s stern position against the Zionist regime, citing decree number 21/1964 which prohibits any type of dealing between Kuwait and the Zionist regime in addition to anyone connected with that regime, let alone Kuwait’s declaration of war against it through the royal decree issued in 1967.
Hayef said Kuwait is one of the frontrunners in defending the case of Palestine as it refused to recognize Israel. He added the legal settlement of 2,195 Sterling Pounds which the national carrier paid to an Israeli raised question marks as it contradicts Kuwait’s position and its principles in rejecting dealing with the Zionist regime in any manner. He requested for details of the legal settlement, results of investigation conducted in this regard, documents connected to the case and the incident, as well as that of all similar cases filed against Kuwait under the same circumstances and the rulings issued.
Meanwhile, Al-Rai daily has reported that MP Khaleel Al-Saleh submitted questions to State Minister for Housing and Services Affairs Jinan Boushahri on the measures taken by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) against Wataniya Airways for failure to schedule flights properly.
The lawmaker wants to know the number of citizens affected by the cancellation and delay of Wataniya Airways flights especially those abroad, and if a compensation settlement has been reached considering the financial and moral damages suffered by the affected passengers.
A few days ago, KUNA reported that the DGCA gave Wataniya Airways an ultimatum to resolve problems such as recurring flight delay and cancellation. The DGCA warned in a statement that in case the company fails to fulfill its duties, its permit will be suspended for three months effective Sept 6 as initial penalty.
