Moh Launches Shlonik App To Tackle Coronavirus Threat
The Ministry of Health launched a new app called Shlonik, available for Android phones. MOH, developed the app in collaboration with the Kuwait Central Agency of Information Technology and Zain.
The aim of the interactive app is to allow the Ministry of Health to connect with citizens and expats to deliver important information and track their behavior to effectively combat the coronavirus spread. The development of the application is in the initial stages, but will eventually reduce the chances of mixing and limit gatherings.
The app is mainly targeting Kuwaitis returning from abroad and with the features will likely ensure they are adhering to the Health guidelines, and enable the Ministry to monitor their movements. Hence, they have to also enter their boarding card details.
The various features of the app include the latest health updates, a health Bot, a check-in for quarantined patients, vitals check and a communication link to MOH medical teams.
To prevent someone from breaking their quarantine by leaving their home without their phone, the app is programmed to send messages at random times, which needs to be answered. Failure to answer within 5 minutes compels the Ministry prevention team to take action by enforcing the legal measures against anyone caught breaking quarantine. If symptoms appear, the patient can immediately call for assistance to be transferred to the hospital.
Anyone in Kuwait can use the app, by downloading it and activating the Bluetooth feature, which enables the person to keep away from those who are infected with coronavirus.
Another highlighted feature is a health bot called the Assessment Agent that allows people to inquire if they might have Coronavirus symptoms. The user answers a few questions to learn if he must go for a medical checkup.
The users’ digital identity is stored on computer servers, but the information will be kept private and encrypted to protect privacy.
