Ministry Of Education Cut Official Working Hours For Female Teachers
Ministry of Education will soon send a circular to all educational zones and schools to oblige them to reduce the official working hours by two hours for female teachers who breastfeed their babies, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting informed sources. They revealed that the ministry decided to take such a step after a number of female teachers expressed their resentment over the rough attitude of their directors who refused them their rights.
The sources indicated that the Civil Service Commission (CSC) sent a memo to Ministry of Education in which it affirmed that the working hours of female employees can be reduced by two hours for the purpose of breastfeeding their children, adding that no administrative authority is allowed to object this decision.
They said the Administrative Affairs Department of Ministry of Education referred a circular regarding this to the Undersecretary of Ministry of Education Dr Haitham Al-Atari for approval, after which it will be sent to all educational zones and schools.
The sources explained that this decision will apply for two years starting from the day the teachers give birth. This two-year period cannot be extended by including the maternity leave or taking sick leaves after giving birth. In addition, application of this decision will not affect the salaries of the relevant employees.
