Minister Approves Scholarship For Married And Unmarried Students
Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Saud Al-Harbi has approved the disbursement of KD 200 monthly allowance for unmarried students on scholarship abroad and KD 350 for those who are married, including those who have been in Kuwait since the first semester of academic year 2020/2021 or its equivalent in other school systems, reports Al-Anba daily.
In the first article of his decision regarding the scholarships of those studying outside the country during academic year 2020/2021, Al-Harbi clarified that the decision includes new scholarships, students covered by the decision on allowing them to complete their master’s degrees outside the institutions where they completed their bachelor’s degrees, and continuing students whose institutions were relocated starting from academic year 2020/2021.
He said the Scholarship Committee might take into consideration the the cases of some students and agree to grant them the financial allocations according to ministerial resolution number 58 issued on June 16, 2014 on a case by case basis and in light of the justifications that the concerned students have presented to the committee.
In addition, Al-Harbi decided to temporarily suspend work according to the financial rules contained in the list of scholarships (except the tuition fees) and to stop the payment of monthly, annual and pretravel allowances for which ministerial resolution number 58 was issued in relation to those studying through the distance education system who have not joined their academic institutions outside Kuwait for the categories specified in the first article of the decision.
He emphasized that the monthly allowances mentioned in the first article of this decision – the salary ruling – shall be calculated according to the number of days; while the monthly allocations and annual allowances stated in Ministerial Resolution No. 58 will be paid once the students join their overseas institutions, stressing that the provisions of this decision apply to the categories specified in Article One and for academic year 2020/2021 only.
