12 August 2021 Kuwait

The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy (MEW) imposed a law of cutting off the power to a property that violates the building law in the Salmiya area, Al-Rai daily reported.

This Law coincided with the campaigns implemented by the team in all regions of Kuwait, to monitor any violations or abuses.

Adnan Dashti, head of the judicial police team affiliated with the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, in coordination with the Kuwait Municipality and the Ministry of Interior, the team was able to cut off the power to a violating property in Hawalli Governorate, consisting of 600 apartments.

Dashti explained that according to the Kuwait Municipality letter received by the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Article 41 of Municipal Law No. 33/2016 has been activated, and the power has been cut off from the aforementioned property after issuing a report proving the property’s violation of the Building Law.

He pointed out that the ministry had earlier, specifically in 2014, cut off the water to the aforementioned property, after a case of water theft was recorded and proven.

He added that the measures taken by the ministry, regarding recording violations and cutting off the power to the violating buildings, led to a reduction in the number of violations.

In this context, Dashti revealed that from the beginning of this year until August 11, the seizure team recorded 575 violations and case proofs, in addition to issuing thousands of verbal warnings, stressing that the ministry will implement its campaigns to monitor any abuses or violations on the ministry’s property.

He explained that after investigating the violation and proving the case, the ministry sends the case to the Public Prosecution to take the necessary measures with violators and trespassers on state property.
