Kuwait’s Role Pioneering In Juvenile Rehabilitation
The Assistant Undersecretary for Social Welfare at the Ministry of Social Affairs Musallam Al-Subaie inspected the new Juvenile Welfare Administration complex project in the Sulaibiya Industrial Zone to review the condition of the work area and evaluate the completed or missing works in all components of the building and the possibility of receiving the building from the Ministry of Public Works after the first quarter of next year, reports Al-Rai Daily.
In a press statement on the sidelines of the tour, Al-Subaie indicated that Kuwait has always been known for its pioneering role in respecting humanity, and which is not surprising for a country that is considered one of the first Arab countries to put in place a special law for the care and rehabilitation of juveniles, and has established a special role in which it provides all life, psychological, educational, health and social services.
Al-Subaie added: “These efforts are to ensure proper rehabilitation of the juveniles in question in a manner that they’ll return as active members of the society,” pointing out that, “the design and implementation of the building and its compatibility with the work and objectives of the Ministry of Social Affairs to take care of juveniles and provide all means of high support and services to them at a level that meets all human rights treaties and conventions.”
Al-Subaie also indicated the tour was to inspect the construction progress and consider some simple observations and also prepare for the stage before receiving the building, as some items were not included in the contract, such as equipping training and education workshops with equipment, as well as medical clinics. For his part, Director of Juvenile Care, Jassem Al-Kandari said, “The new Juvenile Care complex includes all accommodation and homes of the administration for boys and girls, such as social care home, the social calendar and social observation home, in addition to some yards and buildings to implement programs, activities and events for guests such as football and volleyball fields, gymnasium, swimming pool, theater hall, lecture hall, conferences, mosque and professional training workshops.”
Al-Kandari pointed out that there is an integrated school within this institution for the primary, intermediate and secondary stages, as well as many service buildings, such as the central kitchen, which is distinguished by its large size and contains many huge equipment and luxuries, with a high level of quality and in the end, hoping to complete the project without delay and hand it over to the Ministry as scheduled.
