Kuwaiti Students In Public Schools Reach 33,000

The total number of Kuwaiti students in public schools is 330,000, out of who 157,000 are male students and 172,000 are female students, as per the latest official statistics, reports Al-Qabas daily.

According to the educational report of 2016/2017 issued by the Central Statistical Bureau, the total number of public schools in all educational zones is 622. Among them, 306 schools are for boys and 316 schools for girls. The total number of classrooms is 14,000.

The number of Kuwaiti teachers working in public schools is 42,000, which includes 35,000 female teachers and 6,000 male teachers.

The number of non-Kuwaiti teachers working in public schools is 25,000 including 14,000 female teachers and 11,000 male teachers. Elementary level has majority of the Kuwaiti teachers with about 17,000, while 12,000 Kuwaiti teachers work in intermediate level, 7,000 in kindergarten level and 6,000 in secondary level.

Most of the expatriate teachers, about 9,000, work in intermediate level, while 8,000 expatriate teachers work in secondary level, 7,000 in primary level and 209 in kindergarten level. Among the educational zones, Ahmadi Educational Zone has a total of 133 public schools, Capital City Educational Zone has 119 public schools, Farwaniya Educational Zone has 113 public schools, Jahra Educational Zone has 97 public schools, Hawally Educational Zone has 88 public schools and Mubarak Al-Kabeer Educational Zone has 72 public schools. Ahmadi Educational Zone has a total of 81,000 Kuwaiti students and 9,000 non-Kuwaiti students. It has 10,000 Kuwaiti teachers and 6,000 expatriate teachers.

In Jahra Educational Zone, the number of Kuwaiti students is 53,000, and the number of non-Kuwaiti students is 19,000. Also, the number of Kuwaiti teachers is 6,000 and the number of expatriate teachers is 5,000. The number of public schools in Hawally Educational Zone is 88 with 46,000 Kuwaiti and 7,000 non-Kuwaiti students. The number of Kuwaiti and non-Kuwaiti teachers is 5,000 and 4,000 respectively.

The total number of Kuwaiti students in Farwaniya Educational Zone is 63,000 and the number of non- Kuwaiti students is 12,000, while the number of schools in Farwaniya Educational Zone is 113. The number of Kuwaiti teachers in Farwaniya Educational Zone is 9,000, and the number of non-Kuwaiti teachers is 4,000. The total number of Kuwaiti and non-Kuwaiti students of public schools in Capital Educational Zone is 49,000 and 4,000 respectively.

The number of Kuwaiti teachers is 6,000 and the number of non-Kuwaiti teachers is 4,000. In Mubarak Al-Kabeer Educational Zone, the number of Kuwaiti and non-Kuwaiti students is 39,000 and 1,560 respectively, and the number of Kuwaiti and non-Kuwaiti teachers is 6,000 and 2,312 respectively.

According to the statistics, the total number of private schools in Kuwait is 541. This includes 390 co-education schools, 84 schools for boys and 67 schools for girls. The number of Kuwaiti students and non-Kuwaiti students in private schools is 71,000 and 194,000 respectively. The number of Kuwaiti and non-Kuwaiti teachers working in private schools is 312 and 16,000 respectively.
