Kuwait To Comply With Egypt Extradition Deal
Cairo has now identified most members of the Muslim Brotherhood group who had fled Egypt after the June 30, 2013 Revolution fearing arrest by the Egyptian security authorities, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting high level sources.
Most of those who escaped from Egypt and wanted by law for disrupting security and participating in the violent acts spearheaded by the group have been identified with Kuwait’s cooperation.
The sources added investigations conducted by the Egyptian security authorities with the Brotherhood members revealed they have been in constant touch with fugitives living in several countries, especially Turkey.
The same sources said the Egyptian security services had sent to its Kuwaiti counterpart a new list of 15 people – including the names of Khaled Al-Mahdi and Mohammed Mustafa who are currently undergoing investigations Egypt and were among the eight men arrested in Kuwait and extradited to Cairo at the latter’s request – and three charity organizations which are said to be providing shelter to these men in the name of employment.
The sources added the list also includes names of persons who have made bank transfers through the Western Union and branches of various banks to families of Brotherhood members who are behind bars in Egypt for their involvement in violence and terrorist acts, especially after June 30, 2013.
The Egyptian authorities say there is concrete evidence that money transfers have been made from the charity organizations in Kuwait. According to the sources, the Kuwaiti security services have pledged to Egypt that all Brotherhood members arrested in Kuwait will be interrogated and extradited along with a copy of investigations to update Egypt.
Despite the pressure on Kuwait and demand from certain quarters not to extradite Al-Mahdi to Egypt but deport him to another country, Kuwait has withstood all these efforts to honor the extradition treaty it has signed with Cairo
