Kuwait Committed To Gcc Unified Customs Law, Rules
As was published by the Al-Seyassah daily, the General Administration of Customs (GAC) has clarified that there is no new law or procedure applied upon arriving or departing travelers.
The administration said the Kuwait Customs authorities are committed to implementing the unified customs law and its executive regulations among the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and that there has been no change to the procedures followed previously.
The General Administration of Customs says what has been circulated regarding the collection of customs tax on gifts and personal belongings is nothing but a customary procedure, in order to ensure that the personal effects and gifts are not of a commercial value, which is considered one of the means of illegal trade.
The administration said the customs authorities have the right to search and inspect in the best interest of the security and safety of the country and protection of public money.
The GAC affirmed that it is working to facilitate special procedures for departures and arrivals, and that any new procedures will be announced through the official websites, and added, whoever has any complaint or inquiry must register it on the official website of the administration, or visit the public relations office at the General Administration of Customs building in Shuwaikh.
