Issue Of Stranded Teachers Remains Unsolved
The current school year will end soon with some educational stages ending in mid-May; but the stranded teachers issue remains unsolved as more than 2,000 teachers are still in their home countries due to the closure of air and land ports and the ban on the entry of non-Kuwaitis due to the corona epidemic, reports Al-Jarida daily. In this context, highly reliable sources from the educational sector revealed to the daily that the Ministry of Education recently contacted the Corona Supreme Committee regarding these teachers; explaining that the last contact was about the stranded teachers who stopped working after traveling to spend the mid-year vacation in their countries.
Sources said the number of stranded teachers who traveled during the midyear vacation exceeded 1,100 in various disciplines; in addition to the 1,000 previously stranded teachers who left the country last summer, bringing the total to more than 2,000 teachers who are unable to resume work, especially since the ministry rejected the idea of conducting lessons from abroad using the distance education platform.
Sources added the ministry is hoping that the issue will be discussed by the competent authorities in order to find an appropriate solution and to take decisions that are in the interest of work; considering the academic staff shortage in some specializations such as Arabic language, mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and other major subjects.
