During the first week since the Ministry of Interior decided expatriates and Gulf nationals must pay their debts before leaving the country, the Ministry of Electricity and Water has collected about 700,000 dinars.

Despite the possibility of expatriates benefiting from the deduction system applied to citizens over the years, the Ministry has not prohibited expatriates from paying the tax in installments until now.

As he explained, if there are cases in which the deduction is required, a committee will be formed to study them, and a citizen will be required to sign the deduction decision so that expatriates can benefit from this advantage and pay the amount within a longer period which will be determined..”

Regarding whether there are large amounts that require the deduction to be applied to these categories, the source said: “Some citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries have debts ranging between two thousand and four thousand dinars to the Ministry of Electricity and Water as dues for the services provided.”

“Noting that the ministry is currently planning to link bill payment systems with a number of other entities in the country, including banks, the Public Authority for Manpower, and the Ministry of Social Affairs, making payment of dues a condition of completing transactions related to those entities..”
