In A Kuwaiti-unrecognized Game, Kuwaitis Won 7 Medals In Rubiks Cube

With the help of Captain Mohammed Al-Momen, Kuwait's "Rubik's Cube" team won seven medals in the tournament (two gold, two silver, and three bronze) and set a Kuwait record by solving the "Rubik's Cube" blindfolded in a minute and 47 seconds. Five medals were won by Ghanem Al-Mutawa, while two medals were won by Saud Al-Mutawa.

In a local Arabic newspaper, Saud Al-Mutawa stated that the team had been training and preparing for the tournament for over a year, and this is their third tournament. The team has also participated in other tournaments, winning 15 medals in various positions during those tournaments.

According to him, 85 contestants from 14 different countries participated in the tournament, with seven Kuwaitis represented.

Al-Mutawa said that the Rubik's Cube is the most famous mental game ever since it was invented in 1974. A three-dimensional mechanical puzzle consisting of 26 pieces and 6 colors. It is partly a matter of understanding the rules and partly a matter of memorizing them in order to solve the cube. As for the speed of the solution, it requires quick intuition and concentration.”

Al-Mutawa explained that the game had not been recognized by any local party until now.

Ali Al-Balushi's mother, Fatima Al-Khabbaz, said the participation aimed to develop players' concentration skills as well as the spirit of competition.

The team used the names of the players in the tournament and spent two years preparing. Ongoing preparations include gatherings, local championships, and courses.

Upon returning to Kuwait from Bahrain, where the championship was held, there was joy and frustration - joy because the players made Kuwait proud, and frustration because there was no official party to welcome them.
