The first edition of Kuwait Sports Day kicked off with great enthusiasm on Saturday, featuring more than 13,000 racers on foot and motorbikes.

The event commenced under the patronage and presence of His Highness the Prime Minister, Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, alongside various officials and diplomats.

Participants engaged in a variety of competitions, including a five-kilometer race-walking and a 15-kilometer motorbike race, held on Jaber Al-Ahmad Bridge. Additionally, the event featured various other sports activities, shows, and games.

Led by His Highness the Prime Minister, both moto bikers and walkers embarked on their races from the beginning of the bridge, heading towards the finish line at the bridge's southern islet.

To enhance the experience, the Public Sport Authority constructed a sports village on the islet, providing facilities for table tennis, foosball games, children's playgrounds, and a theater where a folkloric band entertained the crowd with popular songs. Food and coffee booths were also available for attendees.

Yusuf Al-Bdian, the authority's director-general, expressed gratitude for the presence of His Highness the Prime Minister, highlighting that the event aligns with the authority's strategy, inspired by former Minister of Youth, Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi.

Al-Bidan noted the success of the event, with over 13,000 participants, indicating its adoption as an annual state sports day by the Prime Minister. Meanwhile, Mariam Al-Enezi, the Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Development and Activities, mentioned the Ministry of Education's involvement with 1,400 student participants.
