Indonesian migrant workers in Kuwait have successfully revived their annual activities, centered on a friendship-driven football league during the winter season. The journey of organizing this event was marked by significant challenges, but the Indonesian Futsal Association in Kuwait, driven by goodwill, managed to overcome uncertainties with support from various entities, including the Indonesian Embassy in Kuwait, Bank Rakyat Indonesia, the Indonesian Diaspora Forum in Kuwait, Ridwan Kopi Indonesia, Cita Rasa Culinary Archipelago, Laziz MU in Kuwait, and prominent figures within the Indonesian community.

The event unfolded safely and seamlessly at the Abu Sahil Abu Halifah Sport location every Friday, spanning five weeks from January 19, 2024, to February 23, 2024, from 7 am to 11 pm local time. Five teams participated in this year’s football league, namely RDWN FC, Garangan FC, NUSRA FC, PPK Syabab FC, and Bima FC.

The league commenced with an opening ceremony graced by the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Kuwait, Mrs. Lena Maryana Mukti, and the Republic of Indonesia’s labor attaché to Kuwait, Mrs. Ratna Sari Dewi. The closing ceremony, representing the political function minister counselor and head of chancery, was conducted by Mr. R. A Arief, with the social and cultural aspects illuminated by Mrs. Osrinikita Zubhana, the First Secretary for Information and Socio-Cultural Affairs.

Both the opening and closing ceremonies were meticulously organized by the Chief Executive of Activities, Mrs. Indrit, with Mr. Yahya serving as the chairman of the Indonesian Futsal Association in Kuwait, assisted by other committee members. The league’s events featured the singing of the national anthem, Indonesia Raya, led by Ogik G. R., prayers by Hasan Haidarullah, and documentation by Ryan and Rahmat.

This year’s league employed a points system, with goal differences determining rankings in case of tied points. The winners were announced, with Bima FC securing the first place, earning a prize of 200 KD along with rotating trophies, regular trophies, and gold medals. RDWN FC claimed the second position, receiving a prize of 160 KD, a regular trophy, and a bronze medal, while NUSRA FC secured the third spot, earning a prize of 120 KD, a regular trophy, and a silver medal. The top scorer, Captain Azis, was awarded a prize of 20 KD.

In addition to these prizes, all participating teams and supporters were presented with certificates by the committee as a token of appreciation. The spirit of unlimited sportsmanship was emphasized throughout the league program, echoing a memo of unity and camaraderie. The event also extended its heartfelt wishes for Kuwait’s Independence Day on February 25-26, 2024.
