Half-a-million Students Resume Distance Education
More than half-a-million students of all educational levels in public and private education will resume studying for the second semester of 2020-2021 through their participation in the ‘Microsoft Teams’ program through the Kuwait educational portal, after the Minister of Education and the Minister of Higher Education issued Dr Ali Al-Mudhaf decided to continue studying in the second semester according to the distance education system, in accordance with the recommendations of the health authorities.
According to educational sources, the schools start tomorrow morning will receive the parents of students so that they can collect the textbooks for the second semester in line with the precautionary measures. The Ministry of Education is said to have distributed books to the various educational stages in schools during the mid-school holiday.
The sources indicated that the tests will be specified in the curriculum of the second semester only, and that the application of the evaluation mechanism for students for all stages will be done according to the study plan based on attendance, participation, interaction, and assignments, in addition to electronic assessments that are short tests and reports unless the plan changes given the health developments.
The sources disclosed the Ministry of Education will prepare, in coordination with the Ministry of Health schools officials for registration for vaccination, in order to ensure that they receive priority in reserving a vaccination appointment. The sources explained, this procedure comes within the framework of ensuring the implementation of preventive measures for school workers to limit the spread of the ‘COVID-19’ virus.
The ministry has urged teachers and school administrators to receive the vaccine according to the requirements set by the Ministry of Health, stressing that vaccination is optional for those who wish, but it invites everyone to take the vaccine in order to form a immune community against the virus.
The sources suggested that the Ministry of Education would announce the results of the secondary school grades for the first semester during the current week – the announcement was put on hold due to the modifi- cations made to the evaluation mechanism and the distribution of grades after the start of the mid-year vacation.
