Four-year Jail Term For Top Police Officer Overturned By Court
A lower court's decision to sentence a police officer and a group of his police assistants to four-year prison terms after they were found guilty of assaulting two prosecutors was reversed by the Court of Cassation. The court instead ruled to abstain from pronouncing any punishment against them. Despite the procedures, the first defendant detained the freedom of both prosecutors for cases that were not approved by law.
Based on what was seen in the video clips, the testimony of the first, second, third, and fourth witnesses to the incident, as well as the statements submitted by the prosecutors and the statements of the first, fourth, and fifth defendants, as well as the findings of the investigations, they restricted their freedom. The first defendant – as stated in the ruling – presented a false verbal report to a public employee authorized to initiate procedures, fully aware of its lack of truthfulness.
According to this individual, who was responsible for receiving reports related to criminal activity, the plaintiff's actions warranted legal action. Technical evidence from surveillance cameras indicating the chronological order and the extent of acceleration displayed by the vehicle's driver proves that the information cannot be traced back to them.
