For The First Time - Coronavirus Infects A Person With Two Different Strains
In a new incident that has baffled and worried doctors, the emerging corona virus has proven that two different strains of it can infect one person "at the same time."
Tests conducted in Brazil, the second most in the world in terms of the number of "Covid 19" deaths, revealed the first "double" case of corona in two people, each of whom was infected with two strains of the virus at the same time.
And researchers from the University of "Vville" in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, southern Brazil, reached this discovery, after conducting a study on 90 patients with "Covid 19".
In the first case, it was confirmed that one of the patients was infected with two Corona strains, which developed separately, and were detected in two different Brazilian states, and they were called "P.1" and "P.2".
As for the second patient, tests revealed that he was infected with the two strains "P.2" that appeared in Brazil, and "B.1.91" that was detected for the first time in Sweden.
New mutations
As for the relatively reassuring thing, according to what the study reported, the symptoms of the two patients were mild, which were a dry cough in the first case, a cough, a sore throat and a headache in the second, while neither of them needed to be hospitalized.
The results of the study were published on the medical site "medRxiv", but they have not yet been published in a scientific journal and have not been subject to peer review.
And the principal researcher in the study, Fernando Spelki, expressed his fear that this type of infection would lead to more mutations of the virus quickly.
"This common infection can generate other groups of the virus, and produce new mutations more quickly than was happening," said Spalki, a virologist at the University of "Vevey", in statements reported by "Reuters". It will be another evolutionary path for the virus ».
Mutations are a distinctive feature of viruses in general, but they increase fears of the possibility of other types of "corona" emerging that can resist vaccines that
Brazil is currently in the middle of the second wave of "Covid 19" with more than a thousand deaths daily, and since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country, more than 9 million people have been infected with the Corona virus in total, while more than 225 thousand have died of the disease.
At least two different strains of the Corona virus appeared in the South American country, and experts believe that this is due to the large number of infections there.
