Expats Transit Through Alternative Airports To Reach Kuwait

25 January 2021 Expats

After the decision to reduce passengers coming to Kuwait by setting 35 passengers per flight, those coming from banned countries who have been staying in non banned countries for 14 days have found themselves in a difficult situation yet once again due to limited seats and cancellations of thousands of travelers by some airlines.

Sources stated that expats traveling on transit will have to stay in transit countries for an additional period due to lack of tickets available during this period, report Al Qabas. Some expats before the decision came into implementation booked new transit tickets and entered visa Ethiopia and Saudi Arabia in order to return to Kuwait.

Tickets prices reached to KD 850 with transit hours reaching up to 20 hours before they reached Kuwait. There has been a great rush for booking of flights where as some airlines have cancelled their flights going to Kuwait as economically it is not feasible to fly with just 35 passengers.

On other hand Kuwait International Airport witnessed implementation of the decision of not crossing 1,000 passengers per day. The procedure for examining arriving passengers proceeded normally, several flights landed, passengers were checked with medical equipment before entering the country as a part of precautionary measures.
