Emirates Airlines: Resume Normal Flights To 9 Cities In 8 Countries
Emirates airlines will relaunch flights to nine destinations on May 21 in a bid to ease coronavirus restrictions on the aviation industry.
Destinations will include Chicago, Frankfurt, London, Madrid, Melbourne, Milan, Paris, Sydney and Toronto, the Dubai-based airline said in a statement Wednesday.
The airline has already planned scheduled flights this week to Tokyo, Conakry and Dakar as early as Friday.
Strict health guidelines will be applied, like social distancing and temperature checks for passengers at the airport, with a mandatory requirement for passengers and staff to wear gloves and masks as well as protective gowns and safety visors for cabin crew.
Aircraft cabins have been fitted with HEPA air filtration systems, which eliminate 99.97% of viruses, dust, allergens and germs during flights, said the airline. After landing, aircrafts will also undergo cleaning and disinfection.
Earlier in a statement, Emirates Group chairman Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum said “we expect it will take 18 months at least, before travel demand returns to a semblance of normality”.
