Driving Licenses Will Not Be Issued To Nurses

Driving licenses will not be dispensed to male and female nurses working in the Ministry of Health and private hospitals, as well as foreign students studying in public and private universities, and other institutes, Al Jarida reported. Ministry of Interior’s Assistant Undersecretary for Operations Major-General Jamal Al-Sayegh, sent such instructions to all traffic departments in the six governorates, in addition to the traffic departments in the service centers.

Al-Sayegh said, in a special statement to the daily, that the ministerial decision was issued on March 18, that is, at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, and was not started due to the health conditions the country is going through, and the accompanying closure of government departments in the country. He pointed out that after departments opened to receive visitors, based on the decisions of the Council of Ministers according to the gradual return to normal life plan, the decision was made to not issue driving licenses to foreign students, male and female nurses.

He pointed out that the decision excludes the children, husbands, wives, widow and divorced women of Kuwaiti citizens, and Bedouins who hold valid id cards, indicating that students, male and female nurses who obtained driving licenses in previously before the decision, will not be held to this decision. He explained that the decision will be applied to new applications submitted after the issuance of Ministerial Resolution No. 270 of 2020.

Al-Sayegh said that the number of driving licenses issued to citizens amounted to 648,383 licenses, while the number of valid driving licenses given to expats reached 822,794 licenses, while the number of vehicles registered with valid insurance papers amounted to 2,293,785 vehicles.
