Dgca Has Embarked On Several Measures Executed At Airport Ahead Of Eid Holidays
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has embarked on several measures ahead of summer vacation and Eid Al-Fitr holiday to make the journey easy for passengers departing and arriving, and also reduce the rate of pressure and congestion at Kuwait International Airport, reports Al-Qabas daily.
According to a recent report, measures implemented include the approval of automatic baggage check, creation of two halls; the first hall for the issuance of visas and the second one for transit passengers, introduction of home delivery service for passenger luggage, and installation of new gadgets for baggage check. Report indicated many improvements in airport services to reduce the burden on Terminal 1 (T1).
Among the major mechanisms contained in the report is to cut down additional flights and increase the sizes of aircraft, citing the inauguration of T5 for Al-Jazeera Airways to reduce burden on T1 by 15 percent with operational capability of about 2.5 million passengers per annum.
The support terminal (T4) will also be operational for Kuwait Airways at the rate of 4.5 million passengers annually, possibly starting from July 25. The new airport services include early check-in of luggage for Kuwait Airways and Al-Jazeera Airways passengers, assigning 2018 summer support staff to assist passengers and DGCA staff in organizing movements. It also includes creating new counters for information and passenger services at the luggage weighing zones, in addition to the installation of self check-in devices.
