Before the matter is referred to the Ministers Court, the five suspects in the Eurofighter deal between Italy and Kuwait will be presented before the Permanent Investigation Committee for the Trial of Ministers.

Five people, including a former minister, are suspected of improperly appropriating public funds in the aircraft deal, according to a local Arabic newspaper. The case is expected to be heard at the court session next week.

It's expected that other officials will be summoned for questioning along with 'others' believed to be related to the case. Their testimonies will be listened to and statements will be taken down in order to expand the investigation into the case in various aspects based on the evidence.

Kuwait signed an agreement to purchase 28 Eurofighter aircraft from Italy in 2015 for 8 billion Euros ($9 billion). An Inquiry Commission communication to the Public Prosecutor was forwarded to the Commission by Defense Minister Sheikh Ahmed Al-Mansour at the start of 2020.

The Public Authority for Anti-Corruption (Nazaha) was informed of the Audit Bureau's report in July 2021 by the Deputy Prime Minister and former Minister of Defense Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali.

They said that the referral was not related to the purchase per se, but to the addition of additional items at a later date.

Two major generals and a colonel from the army have been forwarded to the Public Prosecution over charges of serious harm to public money in connection with the Eurofighter contract, announced the Integrity Commission last January.
