Court Case Against Alleged Killer Of Kuwaiti Woman Postponed

21 days have passed since the shocking crime that shook Kuwait and lead to protests calling for women safety against male violence, the Criminal Court held the first session to try the accused in the heinous crime, wherein he allegedly murdered Farah Akbar in front of her daughter, and during Ramadan, Al Qabas daily reported.

At the start of the trial, the accused denied the accusations against him of kidnapping and murdering Farah Akbar. The accused reportedly told the judge, “I work in the Army Intelligence … and I study psychology … I have not kidnapped, nor killed, nor threatened.”

The Criminal Court decided to postpone the trial to summon the investigating officer for his testimony.

In defense of the victim, lawyer Abdul Mohsen Al-Qattan, submitted a request for civil compensation of KD5001 dinars temporarily, and demanded the death penalty.

Activists and relatives of the victim, Farah Akbar, gathered near the venue of the trial, calling for the killer’s execution.

The Public Prosecutor demanded the death penalty for the accused on charges of kidnapping and premeditated murder.

Farah Hamza Akbar in April was forcibly taken from her car by a man, who stabbed her and left her outside a hospital. She had filed two police complaints against him for harassment.
