05 February 2016 Kuwait

The Criminal Court presided over by Judge Mutaib Al-Ardhi acquitted a Kuwaiti citizen who was accused of possessing 45.3 kilograms of hashish with the intention of consuming and selling them. According to the case file, the hashish was found hidden inside a water tanker in Amghara Scrapyard by securitymen after they received information about it. The arresting officer said in his testimony that investigation revealed the hashish belonged to the owner of the tanker. Defense counsel Lawyer Talal Al-Enezi faulted the procedures followed in arresting his client due to lack of an arrest warrant from the Public Prosecution. He also stressed that the witness accounts contradicted and the prosecution failed to present substantial evidences to indicate his client committed the charges leveled against him.
