Record number of people are being admitted to specialized intensive care units. While the number of cases in intensive care increased to 296. The intensive care consultant at the Amiri Hospital, Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Faris, revealed that the cases of admission to the intensive care wards are mostly among unvaccinated and among the young age groups between 20 to 50 years people who have not received vaccinations, Al-Rai reported.
He pointed out that there is a noticeable increase in cases receiving medical care in intensive care, compared to the previous period, in addition to the fact that the complications of the disease are worse and more severe, which also exposes them to an increased risk.”
Al-Fares explained that dealing with this increase in admissions to intensive care was accompanied by an increase in the number of wards in hospitals, noting at the same time that this increase constitutes great pressure on the medical, nursing, and support staff.
Dr. Khaled Al-Jarallah stated that the upcoming scene is more painful, epidemiological noting that Covid and its repercussions among the unvaccinated category raise clinical occupation and criticality.
In a related context, health sources revealed to the daily that the appointments of doctors in the field of anesthesia and intensive care have doubled with the limited number of resignations, which are considered a right of the employee guaranteed by law, and a natural thing that occurs in all institutions.
A statistic showed that the number of anesthesiologists and intensive care doctors was 351 during 2019, and rose to 372 in 2020, then to 392 in 2021.
