Challenges To Be Faced By Kuwait In Storing Pfizer Anti-corona Vaccine
Opening talks about the logistical challenges Kuwait may face while importing the “Pfizer” vaccine against Corona and the need to keep the vaccine at a temperature of minus 70 degrees, responsible health sources have settled this controversy by confirming that the Ministry of Health is fully prepared to import any vaccine in accordance with the regulatory procedures that ensure the safety of vaccines, reports Al-Qabas daily.
The same sources indicated the import of any vaccine goes through several stages before it reaches the medical warehouses. This includes its submission to the cold chain system- a temperature-controlled supply chain that maintains the required and specified temperature range during its transfer from the company’s factory to the manufacturing country’s customs, before it is shipped and transported to Kuwait.
They stated that the cold chain is used in extending the safety of the vaccine or manufactured drugs and chemicals, which are transported by aircraft and equipped for this purpose, “and once they reach the country, they are transferred to refrigerated containers at controlled temperatures in accordance with the health requirements”.
The same sources said the “cold chain” is one of the measures of an organized practical nature and among the most important components of organizing immune warnings for infectious diseases, as vaccines currently in use need strict adherence to temperatures during storage, transportation and shipping.
They added, “vaccine is transferred from the airport to the ministry’s warehouse in Sabhan area and chilled, then transferred to the refrigerated stores in public hospitals, and finally to the administrative health centers of the hospitals”.
