Attack On Doctor Causes Cracked Skull, Bleeding In Brain

After being beaten by an unnamed visitor at the Kuwait Centre for Mental Health, a doctor suffered a fracture of the skull and a cerebral hemorrhage.

Dr. Khaled Al-Saeed, the Minister of Health, was accompanied by the Undersecretary of the Ministry, Dr. Mustafa Reda, and the Director of the Al-Sabah Specialized Medical District, Dr. Abdullatif Al-Sahli, to the Kuwait Center for Mental Health to check on the doctor who had been assaulted by one of the visitors.

According to Al-Rai, the attack has been strongly condemned, and the Ministry of Health has affirmed its full support for all measures that protect health practitioners' rights against such reprehensible and unacceptable behavior, as well as taking the necessary legal measures in response to this unfortunate incident.

The ministry reiterated that it will make every effort to provide a safe and appropriate work environment for medical personnel so that they can carry out their lofty mission as required, revealing that the ministry worked with security authorities to increase security presence around the clock to provide the necessary protection for medical personnel and visitors, pleading with God to keep everyone safe.

"The attacker was brought to the center following a quarrel on Failaka Island, after worries about the likelihood of taking narcotics," according to the sources.

According to sources, when the accused was transported to the police station about 8:00 a.m. yesterday, he appeared unconcerned.

The doctor was brought to Al-Sabah Hospital and had an urgent operation, according to the sources, who added that the doctor's status is now stable.
