Amid High Anticipation, Kuwait Resumes Visit Visa Issuance After Suspension

10 February 2024 Visit Visa

The Ministry of Interior's decision to resume visit visa issuance, halted since June 2022, has sparked excitement among applicants. Despite the requirement for prior appointment bookings via the "Meta" platform, residency departments across the six governorates witnessed a surge in applications on the first day.

The Ministry's Residency Affairs Sector reported over 8,300 applications submitted, with 1,763 accepted. Notably, the criteria for family and business visits no longer impose an age limit, departing from the previous maximum threshold of 70 years.

However, family and business visits are now capped at one month and are non-renewable. Violations of this duration will result in security restrictions for both the visitor and sponsor, particularly for sponsors lacking a salary certificate under Article 24.

All departments strictly required appointments from the "Sahel" platform for admission. The highest application numbers were recorded in Hawally, the capital, Jahra, and Ahmadi governorates.

Brigadier General Ali Al-Adwani, Director General of Residence, granted governors and their assistants full authority, emphasizing adherence to ministerial instructions without exceptions.

These developments mark a significant shift in Kuwait's visit visa policies, reflecting a balance between facilitation and security measures.
