860 Traffic Citations In 5 Hours
The campaign, launched by the General Traffic Department, under direct instructions from the Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic and Operations Affairs, Major General Jamal Al Sayegh, Ministry of Interior, in 3 residential areas, Shuwaikh, Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and Fahaheel, resulted in issuing 860 citations, including 560 direct and 300 indirect violations in 5 hours.
The most prominent violations focused on security conditions and durability of the vehicle, expiry of vehicle insurance, vehicles that make annoying sounds, smoke emission, and carrying passengers for money and various other violations.
Acting Director of the Inspection Department, Colonel Mishaal Al-Suwaiji, told Al-Rai the General Traffic Department has impounded a number of vehicles and towed them to the ministry garage.
