A Kuwaiti media report states two Asian tanker drivers stole some 4,000 liters of diesel from the Sabiya field.

In addition to being investigated for stealing electricity from the same oil field, the two Asians work for an oil company.

A shortage of diesel was discovered on one of the oil fields in Subiya after supervisors noticed the equipment required to operate the machinery did not have enough fuel.

Article 240 of the Kuwaiti Penal Code states that: “Anyone who takes, controls, or unfairly disposes of assets for personal benefit shall be punished with a max 3years in prison and a max fine of 3,000 KD, or During the course of possessing assets owned by someone else, he damages the assets in a way that is injurious to the asset owner or others or damages the assets in a way that violates the terms of a trust, lease, mortgage, proxy or any other contract requiring him to return the assets or use them in a specific manner, and to account for that usage, or in violation of law or court order requiring such use.”.

Most expats convicted of theft or robbery are deported after completing their jail terms. More than 956 expats were deported from Kuwait between 2012 and 2018. Kuwait deported 163 people for theft and theft attempts in 2018 alone.
