25% Of School Teachers Stranded In India … Those Here Plan To Leave
Around 25 percent of teachers in an Indian school are stranded in India, while many of those who are presently employed are planning to return to their homeland at the end of the school year in November and this might lead to a shortage of teachers in the next school year, reports Al- Rai daily quoting an official source from the administration of the school. The source disclosed that the academic year 2021/2022 began in 20 Indian schools in April; indicating the first semester will end on June 10, the second on Aug 25 and the third in November.
The source clarified the shortage of teachers does not pose a problem in the current school year due to the virtual classes under the distance education system, although its effects will be felt if the schools open in September. The source said the Administrative Sector in the Ministry of Education will coordinate with the Ministry of Interior to facilitate procedures for the return of teachers stranded abroad through the issuance of entry visas for those who were unable to renew their visas; stressing their number is less than 2,000 and none of them will be excluded from the decision to resume work in schools.
On the other hand, Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Development and Activities Faisal Al-Maqseed asked the undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior to approve the issuance of entry visas for workers in the ministry and teachers stranded abroad with the possibility of converting these visas into government residency for those whose visas have expired and allowing the entry of those with valid visas. He affirmed all the health and preventive regulations will be followed, while upholding the Council of Minister’s decision to ban direct entry of travellers from India.
