Total Marketing Middle East Educated School Children On Road Safety In Kuwait
Total Marketing Middle East along with its distributor Al Babtain conducted its first ‘Safety Cube ‘campaign at Carmel School in Kuwait. An indigenous programme tailored by Total; it aims to educate students on what it takes to be a safe and responsible road user. This tool has been deployed across many countries in Africa and Middle East for raising awareness on road safety.
This campaign targeted children in the age group 6-9 years to raise “Road Safety Awareness” amongst the young students. The campaign was held for two consecutive days covering 450 students. This safety campaign was conducted in two sessions. A theoretical one, focusing on Rules of the road, moving around safely and protecting oneself at all times. A specially designed pictorial booklet was handed over to the children for this purpose. Information on traffic signs was also covered. The second session was the practical application of this information engaging students to prepare a mock-up of a road including installation of road signs etc. At the end of session the students were awarded a certificate of participation.
Responding to the campaign, Sr. Philomene, Principal of Mount Carmel stated, “Our thanks to the 'Total' group for the enlightening and inspiring workshop they had for the students of Carmel School. The students were excited and took an active part in it. They were made aware of the traffic rules and road safety measures to be followed. They were happy with the certificates and complimentary gifts they received’.
“At Total we understand the impact of road safety education within a community. After our successful implementation of this project in UAE and Qatar, we are pleased to bring the same to schools in Kuwait. We believe this programme will not only educate the young students but also inculcate a sense of responsibility towards road safety,” said David Kalife, Managing Director of TMME.
Total and Al Babtain intend to rollout this initiative to various other schools in Kuwait. This is one of the many channels through which Total greatly impacts on the safety of communities across the GCC
