Taking Action Against Drugs And Trafficking
Al- Rai was informed by knowledgeable security sources that the Ministry of Interior has created a comprehensive strategy to fight narcotics that includes tightening control over the ports to stop their arrival into the nation. To safeguard society from this scourge, which has recently grown to pose a serious threat, this is in addition to concurrently attacking the basic roots of domestic drug trade.
The Assistant Undersecretary of the State Security Agency and the Acting Criminal Security Undersecretary, Lieutenant-General Sheikh Salem Al-Nawaf, reportedly presided over a meeting a few days ago as part of the coordination between the many involved sectors. Senior representatives from the Narcotics Control Department, Criminal Investigation, Criminal Evidence, Coast Guard, Ports, and Customs were present at the meeting, which was called in response to the recent expansion of the use of psychotropic substances and the entry of new chemicals. The goal of the meeting was to develop an integrated security plan in collaboration with the relevant government agencies in order to "dry up the sources of drug entry and fight and seize the drugs pushers."
