Speaker To Attend Special Session; Government To Abstain
Although the government will not attend today’s special session in accordance with the health procedures that obligated ministers to home quarantine after they had come in contact with the Minister of Health who announced that he was infected with the “Covid 19” virus, National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim announced that he will attend today’s session in compliance with what is stated in the second paragraph of Article 72 of the bylaws of the National Assembly.
Ten deputies had submitted a request to hold a special session to discuss reports on the following agenda:
1 – To propose a law regarding assuming public office. (Law proposals regarding Kuwaitization of public jobs).
2 – The fifty-third report of the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee, which is listed as a matter of urgency on the proposals of a law to amend some provisions of the Code of Procedures and Criminal Trials No. (17) of 1960.
3 – The fourth report of the Committee of Stateless Persons on proposals for laws regarding civil, legal, social and employment rights of persons of Stateless nationality.
4 – The seventy-ninth report of the Human Resources Development Committee on 4 proposals for a law that aims to compensate the employee in the event that the public interest requires not allowing him to take periodic leave by granting him a cash compensation for it or postponing it to another year.
5 – Report No. (40) of the Education, Culture and Guidance Affairs Committee on the two proposed laws to amend some provisions of Law No. (61) of 2007 regarding audio-visual media.
6 – Report No. (41) of the Education, Culture and Guidance Affairs Committee on proposals for laws to amend some provisions of Law No. (3) of 2006 regarding publications and publishing.
The 10 MPs who submitted the request are: Thamer Al-Suwait, Marzouk Al-Khalifa, Mohammed Al-Mutair, Saifi Al-Saifi, Mubarak Al-Hajraf, Fares Al-Otaibi, Muhannad Al-Sayer, Hassan Johar, Shoaib Al-Muwaizri and Khaled Al-Munayes
