Snapchat, New Marketing Tool In Kuwait
Searching for means to promote their products, investors and companies in Kuwait have turned their attention to the video messaging application 'Snapchat' to spread word on their services. Speaking to KUNA, business owners and customers expressed their views regarding marketing via Snapchat, noting that the application provided and an extra dimension for promoting products especially with the inclusion of Snapchat personalities, avid users who promote and provide inputs on products.
Meshari Al-Shallahi, a Snapchat marketer and product advertiser, said that Snapchat is gaining momentum amongst other social media applications, affirming that customers' numbers were increasing. Food, clothing, and makeup are the most sought products on Snapchat, said Al-Shallahi, adding that application provides data necessary for business owners to adjust their plans for showcasing products and services.
The fact that Snapchat offers a short-time period for business owners to present their service require a certain type of talent, said Al-Shallahi who stressed that the application provides a transparent and unaltered review for products. On the customers' point of view, Snapchat user Sarah Al-Ali said that the application has been a massive hit with Kuwaitis becoming the "new fad".
Those using Snapchat for marketing are very aware that their popularity and ways presenting their products determine how well they fair in this type of business, said Al-Ali.
Snapchat is a video messaging application initially released in 2011 and created by Evan Spiegel, Bobby Murphy, and Reggie Brown, former students at Standford University. The application allows users to take photos or videos and edit them with text or drawings. Snapchat allows users to utilize 10 seconds edited images and videos and post them on the application servers. Â
