Security Raids In Jahra More Than 1500 Expats Arrested
Security raid in Jahra Industrial area resulted in the arrest of around 1583 expatriates on various charges. The sudden security campaign on illegal residents and law violators was led by Ministry of Interior Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security, Major General Abdel Fattah al-Ali accompanied by Director of Jahra Security Directorate General Ali Madi and Brigadier Abdullah Al-Ajmi.
The security men closed all areas, streets and roads in Jahra Industrial area today morning to carry out the raid.
1583 expatriates arrested in which 248 expats were arrested for not carrying identification documents, 137 violators of labor law, 52 illegal residents, 39 absconding cases, 13 wanted for debt cases and 5 wanted by law. 1079 people have been released after their documents were verified.
The ministry of interior has begun a massive crackdown on illegal’s towards the end of last year and vowed to continue to arrest illegal citing them as a security threat to the country. Ministry of Interior affirmed that many such campaigns will be carried out in all areas and governorates of Kuwait to ensure adherence to law in all parts of the country, urging Expatriates to carry their identification documents at all times and cooperate with the police for the latter to perform their duties.
Last day Kuwait government has announced a partial amnesty for all illegal residents in Kuwait. Residency violators will be allowed to pay their fines and either legalize their status or leave the country without being blacklisted. This will mean they can return on a new visa in the future. Unlike in previous years, however, fines of residency violators will not be forgiven and must still be cleared.
