Saudi Arabia: Raising The Capacity Of Pilgrims And Visitors To Two Million Pilgrims Per Month, Starting Next Monday
The Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announced Saturday, that it will start from next Monday to receive pilgrims from citizens and residents, in addition to receiving Umrah requests from different countries of the world, with a capacity of up to 60 thousand pilgrims distributed over eight operational periods. To reach the capacity of two million pilgrims per month.
The ministry said in a press statement reported by the Saudi Press Agency that the capacity increase will be done gradually, noting that the pilgrim and the visitor to the Two Holy Mosques must issue permits through the “Umrahna” and “Tawakulna” applications, amid an integrated system of services and preventive measures taken by Saudi Arabia for the sake of safety. And the health of those wishing to perform Umrah and visit.
The Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Abdel Fattah Mashat, said in the statement that the ministry worked in coordination with other concerned authorities before the start of the Umrah season this year to put in place executive mechanisms and create a safe and easy environment for the pilgrims throughout their journey to achieve security,
safety and human health.
Regarding the standards of safe transportation services, Mashat stated that the number of passengers on the bus will not exceed 50 percent of the bus’s capacity, while maintaining a safe distance inside the bus, providing sterilizers, and making sure of the pilgrims’ permits issued by the (Umrah) and (Tawakulna) applications before boarding the bus.
Regarding the health protocols for pilgrims from inside the Kingdom, he indicated that immunization against the virus (Corona emerging – Covid 19) will be a prerequisite for performing the rituals of Umrah, praying in the Grand Mosque and visiting the Prophet’s Mosque, as shown by the application of (Tawakkalna) for the three immunization categories (immunized with two doses of the vaccine). Or a vaccinated person who spent 14 days after receiving the first dose of the vaccine, or a vaccinated person who has recovered from infection) for all immunized age groups for the pilgrims inside.
As for the pilgrims coming from outside the Kingdom, a certificate of immunization certified by the official authorities in the country of the pilgrim must be attached within the justifications for the request to perform the rituals, provided that the vaccines are approved in the Kingdom.
Mashat stressed that the pilgrim must acknowledge the validity of the information provided and adhere to the institutional quarantine procedures for the entry of travelers coming to Saudi Arabia from countries from which the suspension of direct entry to the Kingdom is still continuing, according to the mechanisms approved by the competent authorities.
He called for the need to adhere to the organizational plans and health procedures established by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in cooperation with the competent authorities for the safety of the pilgrims and those serving them and to prevent the spread of the (Corona) virus, and the need to obtain a Umrah permit through the two mentioned applications
