Road Projects Worth $7.6 Billion To Be Implemented In Kuwait
MEED magazine published a report that looked at the most notable projects currently being implemented by Kuwait's ministries of health and public works. The Ministry of Public Works has a large package of road projects in the country, with about 26 projects totaling $7.6 billion underway, according to the magazine, but the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port Project and the Jamal Abdel Nasser Road Development Project are two of Kuwait's largest projects currently under construction.
According to a local Arabic daily quoting the magazine, the Ministry of Health is working on a number of large projects, the most important of which is the construction of a new children's hospital in Shuwaikh's Al-Sabah Medical District.
According to the latest update from MEED, a local company SSH was awarded a contract in March 2016 to study and design a hospital with a capacity of 792 beds in Al-Sabah Specialized Medical District, which includes intensive care units for all medical needs and treatment modalities, and that the main contract tender has yet to be floated after the design project was completed in July 2019.
According to the sources, there is also the new Ibn Sina Hospital, which will have 500 beds and full diagnostic and treatment facilities, but the project has been on hold since September 2020, and the Ministry of Health plans to build a radiology center in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital for 16 million dinars.
Construction of treatment rooms, a laboratory, medical equipment installation, a reception space, an administrative area, and parking lots are all included. The primary contract was supposed to be granted in the third quarter of 2021, and it was supposed to be finished in 2024.
