Residents Of Jleeb Area Are Suffering From Constant Flood Of Sewage Water
Several residents of Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area bitterly lamented the spread of filth, negligence and disorder in the area to the extent that the problem has exceeded the limits. They wondered about the slackness of the official bodies which seem to have removed Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area from their agendas despite the fact that the area has a very high population density particularly the expatriate labor force.
According to an investigative report, the residents of Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area are suffering from constant flood of sewage water and accumulated garbage. The concerned bodies are not bothered about clearing the sewage water, which has led to the presence of unbearable stench in the area. In addition, piles of garbage remain uncollected for a long period of time.
This problem along with the overflowing sewers has created a health hazard. Some of the participating residents explained that Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area has also become a den of labor law violators and marginal labor force.
Majority of the streets in the area are no longer safe especially for the families living in the area. A significant number of stray cats and dogs, filthy swamps, brothels, alcohol dens, hawkers and panhandlers, as well as workshops which operate at night and create disturbance during a time that is considered as resting time are common sights in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area.
According to the residents, the only street which is in good condition in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area is the “makhfar (police station) street”. Other streets differ from each other in terms of number of potholes, piles of garbage and overflowing sewers. The crime rate on some of the streets is high, such as car theft, mugging, and worst of all, eve teasing.
