01 December 2020 Kuwait

The Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) dealt with a number of complaints regarding power outages during the wave of rain that passed over the country during the past two days, most of them about faults in the internal network of homes, while the complaints were concentrated in the Al-Wafra and Abdali farms, Al-Anbaa reported.

The official of electronic services in the electrical distribution networks sector, Eng. Obaid Al-Ajami, said that the active reports that the ministry received changed every 30 minutes, and they did not exceed 320 reports at 2 o’clock yesterday, most of which were internal faults related to the internal wiring network.

He also pointed out that the number of complaints is much lower when compared to previous years. He pointed out that the Minister of Electricity and Water, Dr. Khaled Al-Fadhel, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry Eng. Jassem Al-Nouri has formed an emergency operations room at more than one location, which is managed by a permanent operations room in the ministry headed by the Undersecretary for Stations Affairs M. Khalifa Al-Fareej, for direct and permanent follow-up of all the complaints.

He stated that the Ministry used a number of diesel generators to restore power to some affected areas as a result of electrical Operations rooms in various locations in the six governorates and 10 emergency centers linked to the smart system.

He said that many preparations were made by the ministry, from frequent meetings with the concerned authorities before the rainy season, with the aim of avoiding or minimizing interruptions resulting from them as little as possible.
