Ports Sector Calls For Thorough Scrutiny Of Expats’ Entry Visas
The Ports Sector at the Citizenship and Passports Affairs General Department in the Interior Ministry has called for thorough scrutiny of entry visas issued to expatriates, indicating that it received a letter from the chairman of the Airlines Committee confirming the issuance of visas to passengers of different nationalities, reports Al- Anba daily.
The letter pointed out these expatriates were deported earlier; thus, they have been prevented from entering the country and the airlines must bear the cost of their accommodation until they return to their home countries.
Assistant Undersecretary for Ports Security Affairs in the ministry Major General Mansour Al-Awadhi said in a letter addressed to the assistant undersecretary for Citizenship and Passports Affairs that the Directorate General of Airport Security received a letter from the airlines stating some passengers were deported earlier and banned from entering the country.
The airlines stressed they are not responsible for these cases because they do not know if the passengers have criminal records or not.
