Parliamentary Committee Tasked To Investigate Irregularities In The Moh
The parliamentary committee tasked to investigate irregularities in the Ministry of Health on Thursday met Head of the Nursing Department Latifa Al-Mansour to discuss issues concerning several nurses hired from abroad. Committee Chairman MP Saadoun Hammad Al-Otaibi disclosed that Al-Mansour briefed them on the nurses’ employment contracts and the committees in charge of recruiting nurses.
He said the investigative panel will meet again next week to seek further clarifications from some ministry officials to pave way for finalizing its report which will be submitted to the National Assembly for voting.
In another development, MP Riyadh Al-Adsani revealed some of his colleagues have accused the proponents of the interpellation request against the state minister for cabinet affairs of conspiracy. He argued that they are not the conspirators but the one who covers up corruption.
;Speaking in a press conference at the National Assembly, Al-Adsani clarified the differences between him and other MPs who are against the interpellation. He also explained the main points of the grilling. He pointed out that anyone who supports the prime minister is free to do so, but doubting others is unacceptable. He added the statements of MPs Hamad Al-Harshani and Jaman Al-Harbash have the same meaning as they are referring to the grilling of the state minister for cabinet affairs.
On another issue, he stressed the need to investigate anomalies in the health sector, particularly the overseas treatment and health offices abroad. He considers the situation at the Health Office in Frankfurt “the mother of chaos and violations.” He asked the prime minister and finance minister to look into overseas treatment expenditures, attributing the anomalies in the health offices to the government’s failure to check such expenditures. In addition, he urged Interior Minister Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah to refer the investigation file on the hospitality clause to the Public Prosecution.
