PAM Reports 450 Registered Maids' Offices In Kuwait
In a recent update, the Public Authority for Manpower has shared significant developments in the realm of registered domestic workers' offices, highlighting a total of 450 offices under its administration. The latest statistics, unveiled by the Department for Regulating the Recruitment of Domestic Workers for the month of December, provide valuable insights into the activities of these offices.
The Authority's report for the specified period indicates that three offices have submitted requests for cancellation. On the positive side, 12 professional practice licenses were issued, and 22 practice licenses were renewed during this time frame. Moreover, four offices had their suspensions lifted, while a total of 271 complaints were registered. Currently, seven offices remain under suspension.
It is crucial to note that the Department of Regulating the Recruitment of Domestic Workers plays a pivotal role in overseeing the operations of these offices and companies involved in the recruitment of domestic workers. This oversight is in line with Kuwaiti Domestic Workers Law No. 68 of 2015 and Ministerial Resolution No. 22 of 2022, which provides the executive regulations for Law No. 68 of 2015 concerning domestic workers.
The legislation initially mandated the issuance of an approved license from the Public Authority for Manpower for entities engaged in the recruitment of domestic workers. Subsequently, the law outlined specific conditions for obtaining and maintaining a license to practice. Importantly, it also delineated the obligations of recruitment offices and companies towards the parties involved in the process of contracting for domestic workers.
