Over 600,000 Expats Yet To Complete Biometrics In Kuwait
With the Ministry of Interior’s three-month deadline nearing its March 1st conclusion, security sources revealed that around 670,000 individuals, primarily expatriates, have yet to complete their biometric registration within the allocated timeframe. Failure to adhere to this requirement will lead to the suspension of various transactions, such as residency permit renewals, vehicle registrations, and driver’s license renewals.
Sources indicate that since the inception of the biometric project last year, 1.78 million citizens and expats have undergone the process. Among them, roughly 900,000 are citizens, while 880,000 are expats. It’s worth noting that around 1.1 million individuals under the age of 18 are exempted from this obligation, out of a total population of approximately 4.85 million.
The sources stressed the importance of the remaining 670,000 individuals promptly scheduling their biometric fingerprinting appointments through the Ministry of Interior’s website. Designated sites across all governorates are available for citizens, while expats can visit specified locations in the Ahmadi and Jahra governorates. Furthermore, fingerprinting facilities are accessible at various air, land, and sea ports upon returning to Kuwait. Failure to meet the deadline will lead to the suspension of Ministry of Interior-related transactions for non-compliant citizens and expats.
