Oman Extends Total Lockdown, Lifts Entry Ban On Two Countries
Oman’s Supreme Committee has decided to extend the full lockdown till July 24.
The total lockdown that will start on July 20 coinciding with Eid Al Adha celebrations was initially set to last for three days whereby the activities were expected to resume on July 23 at 4pm.
All commercial activities and movement of people and vehicles will be banned totally during the complete lockdown period.
People were seen thronging the supermarkets for purchase of essential commodities as shops will be closed during the lockdown period of four days.
The Supreme Committee has also lifted the ban on travel from Singapore and Brunei Darussalam which were initially in the banned list. However, passengers arriving into Oman will have to undergo a compulsory institutional quarantine after reaching Oman for seven days. This will have to be followed by a PCR test to determine a negative result to come out of the quarantine.
Following another current decision of the Supreme Committee announced by Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority, all medical and medical assistance categories including all healthcare providers working in the public and private sector and their families are exempt from mandatory institutional quarantine on arrival in Oman. The decision which takes effect immediately, however, requires these passengers to undergo home quarantine as mandated by Oman’s authorities and also wear an electronic tracking bracelet.
